We don't shape climbing holds to look good in a photo. We shape them to hold: under the weight of a climber loading a crimp, under hundreds of goes a week in a gym, under years of setting and renewing. And for that, it starts with the choice of materials.

DANNOMOND PU

Composite X polyurethane (PU) is a lightweight resin that takes impacts and deformation well without cracking.

What this means for you: a hold that's lighter to handle while setting, that absorbs knocks well without degrading, and that keeps its shape over time.

WEAR RESISTANCE

PU's weak point compared with PE is wear resistance. Dannomond addresses that: a slightly grainy texture plus increased durability.

COMFORT ON THE SKIN

Less abrasive than most other climbing-hold materials, so your skin holds up better through a session.

SAFETY

Dannomond bends under extreme stress instead of snapping. Compatible with every backing, from plywood to concrete.

THE COLOURS

CHRYSTOBALLITE PE

Polyester (PE) is the historic climbing-hold resin, used in Europe since the early days of indoor climbing. It has a texture close to rock — more abrasive, more "real" under the fingers than PU.

What this means for you: a grain that reproduces the feel of natural rock, excellent friction resistance, and a lifespan that easily goes the distance in a commercial gym.

THE FIBREGLASS OF OUR MACROS

For macros and volumes, we switch to latest-generation fibreglass. It's the only material that can handle the demands of a large volume: light to mount and bolt on, yet able to take concentrated loads over a large surface without flexing or breaking.

FROM SHAPE TO FINISHED HOLD

A hold always starts the same way: an idea, a sketch, then hours spent sculpting a blank in foam — a saw to rough it out, a rasp and gouges to carve the grip, sometimes a Dremel to refine a groove. Then comes the moulding: a silicone mould that will hold the resin, filler and catalyst mix, hold after hold.


It's this manual stage, upstream of all the chemistry, that makes the difference between a hold that makes you want to set a boulder and a hold that stays in the box. Material isn't everything — but without the right material, even the best shape won't last.

Our materials are the ones you find on the competition circuits: the same demands for strength, grain consistency and durability over time. A gym that equips its wall with our holds works to the same standard as an international competition — whether for a community boulder wall or a pro training board.

QUALITY CONTROL

Every hold is tested before it goes on sale. We don't list what we haven't had in our own hands. In practice: checking the flatness of the base (essential for tightening without breakage), inspecting the grain, and strength-testing the most heavily loaded shapes before a new mould is approved.
